200 Calorie Cinnamon Toast!

I've had some sleeping difficulties lately, and ended up pulling an all-nighter a couple of nights ago. As a result, I had an insane craving for some cinnamon toast. But I didn't want to load myself up with half of my daily calories with one slice of toast, therefore I decided to 'skinny' it up a little. And this is the end result. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the 200 calorie cinnamon toast! I had mine with a banana and some yoghurt, but this would be perfect with a fresh fruit salad or even a fruity smoothie! Mmm...

Ingredients:
  • Piece of toast of choice (I used whole wheat).
  • 3/4 tbsp coconut oil (basically a tablespoon that's not really full).
  • 2 tsp light brown sugar.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (or more, or less, depending on your preferences).
  • 1/2 tsp honey.
Preheat your oven to 180°C. Mix all the ingredients in a little bowl (except the toast, of course), and spread on your piece of toast evenly. Place on an oven-safe dish and bake for 10 minutes. Take out and indulge! Beautiful, right?

Healthy Cookies!

I was craving something sweet again today, however I had a bit of a cheat day yesterday in terms of sweets, and I refused to let myself fall into a candy vortex again. Nuh-uh, not this time! So I decided to make some healthy cookies! It was generally a bit of an experiment, inspired by Blogilates' healthy cookie recipe. I didn't really know what I was doing, I just chucked together a bunch of things that I thought would work. And it worked! Each one of these cookies has 50 calories, which makes it a great snack!

Quick 200 Calorie Rice Cake Snack!

I was feeling a bit hungry and craving a sweet snack in the evening, but didn't want to go overboard on calories, so I prepped up this quick snack using rice cakes, low fat yoghurt, peanut butter, strawberries and dark chocolate. I mixed a tablespoon of yoghurt with half a tablespoon of peanut butter and spread it over two rice cakes, topped it with 5 small cut up strawberries and drizzled (or attempted to) with a square of melted dark chocolate. Yummy yum. You could also half the ingredients for a small 100 calorie snack.

Pancakes!

I'm not usually a big pancake fan. I just get the occasional pancake craving. And today was one of those days. In attempt to not sabotage my 'diet', I searched for a diet-friendly pancake recipe. 'Does such thing exist!?', you say. Why, yes it does! I used Undressed Skeleton's Blueberry Banana Pancakes recipe, and tweaked it the slightest bit. When I previously tried her recipe, I found that putting the blueberries IN the pancakes made my pancakes fall apart when I attempted to flip them. So instead of adding them into the pancake batter, I made a sauce out of them to put on top of the pancakes. Oh, and I added a couple of chocolate chips. 'Cause, y'know, I love me some chocolate chips. The portion is rather small, which is fine for me as I don't tend to eat big portions. If you, however, feel you need a little bit more to keep you full after breakfast, go ahead and grab a fruit salad or yoghurt with (fresh!) fruit.
